FAQ

Eligible individuals must be Francophone and legally authorized to work in Canada. They must hold Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or convention refugee status.

Temporary residents and international students are not eligible for Cap vers l’emploi services.

Unfortunately, temporary residents and international students are not eligible for Cap vers l’emploi services.

The Comité FrancoQueer de l’Ouest (CFQO) is a community organization that supports and empowers French-speaking 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals living in minority settings across Western and Northern Canada.

Through our partnership with the CFQO, we are able to provide job search assistance services specifically dedicated to the FrancoQueer community. This allows us to address the dual challenges of marginalization (being both Francophone and queer) by offering guidance that reflects these realities.

The Pride Center serves as a symbolically and practically safe space for the queer community. Integrating our services there helps reduce anxiety, enhances confidentiality and trust, and normalizes inclusion within the job search context.

Having an advisor entirely dedicated to this mission ensures specialized expertise in employability challenges unique to the FrancoQueer community, while fostering connections and strategies with local partners and employers who deeply value inclusivity and diversity.

You must, at the very least, reside in Alberta. If you do not live in the urban centers where our offices are located, our team can potentially travel to your community to provide our services.

For instance, our Lethbridge-based advisor regularly visits Medicine Hat and Brooks, while our advisor in Grande Prairie frequently travels to Falher and Peace River.

Rest assured, if we are unable to meet you in person, we will be more than happy to support you virtually.

Absolutely!

Our program is designed to support all professional profiles, including employed individuals who wish to transition into a career more aligned with their aspirations (career changes, specialization, etc.) or acquire new skills to propel their career forward (certification programs, soft skills, etc.).

Contact us to discuss your goals and explore solutions tailored to your situation.

Yes, our services are completely free for both job seekers and employers, as they are primarily funded by the Government of Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada).
